Firefighters pulled two men from the sea at Margate last night.The rescue effort saw paramedics, coast guard and police descend on Walpole Bay shortly after 9.30pm.A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "KFRS crews were called to a report of people in the water near the Walpole Bay Hotel in Margate. Firefighters rescued two men from the water who were conveyed to shore by the RNLI lifeboat that was in attendance, along with other emergency services."Crews had left the scene by 11.30pm....

Police used a stinger to end a car chase on the M2 yesterday evening. Five people were arrested following the incident which came to an end in Chatham. A police spokesman said: "At 6.44pm on Saturday 27 May 2017 a vehicle which was reported stolen came to the attention of officers on the M2 near Stockbury. Police have cordoned off part of Rochester town centre. Pictures from the scene show police tape around the Crown pub on the High Street. The air ambulance has also reportedly landed close to the scene. A witness told Kent Live there was a red cap and bloodied t-shirt left at the scene. Kent Police is yet to comment on the incident but said speculation that it had been a stabbing was untrue.Follow our live blog below for updates on the news as it breaks.
