Pet owners are being warned they could face fines if their dog is not microchipped from April 6, 2016.
New laws mean owners could be fined up to £500 if their dog is aged eight weeks and older and does not have a microchip.
Recent figures suggest 1.16m dogs still are not microchipped, despite a 70 per cent increase in the number pets being microchipped in the last month.
