Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from Royal Victoria Place shopping centre this morning after a false alarm.No emergency services were called but the evacuation was sparked after a fire sensor was activated.Marc Burchett, spokesman for the shopping centre, said: "The welfare of our customers, shop staff and our staff was paramount."It gives us the opportunity to check our fire procedures. These things do happen sometimes."
